James Stroud grew up in Yorkshire and was given his first camera at the age of seven; at thirteen he won his first photographic competition for Levis Strauss Jeans. His passion for photography grew and after graduating from art college, James started out as a freelance photographic assistant working with many top photographers including Paolo Roversi in London.
James has now forged a successful career in his own right and clients include: Avon, BBC Boux Avenue, Cooler, DAKS, GHD, Illamasqua, Icons, Jonathan Saunders, Monsoon, Noise, Oakley, Star Alliance, Stella McCartney, Style, The Sunday Times, UNICEF and Wella.
Over the last two years, James’s images have been exhibited in London’s National Portrait Gallery and subsequently his work has recently been acquired for the National collection. Alongside this, one of his portraits was used to promote the 2010 Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize.
James was also chosen to have his work feature in a solo exhibition at St Pancras International Station, the first of its kind in 140yrs.
James is based out of his Camden Studio, in the heart of London.
